Frequently Asked Questions.

WHAT IS PRODUCT ANYWAY?

We use the term “product” to refer to one of two things. Either professional roles at tech companies who empathize with and deliver value to users, or digital solutions to a person’s problems and desires.

WHAT ARE SUBFIELDS IN PRODUCT?

There are three main divisions within product: product management, product marketing, and product design. Product management is the voice of users and is responsible for delivering measurable value. They identify real people’s problems, define the user experience, and align cross-functional teams on strategy and execution. Product marketing sits at the intersection of product, marketing, and sales, with the goal of bringing new products to market. Product marketers are responsible for the commercial success of the products their companies builds, partnering with the product team to help create products that people want to buy and that they can successfully sell. Product design is all about crafting digital products and experiences that are tailored toward real human needs. It encompasses how a product will work, how it looks, and how it feels.

WHAT ARE TYPICAL BACKGROUNDS OF PEOPLE IN PRODUCT?

Most people in product come from engineering, design, marketing, and consulting academic and professional backgrounds.

HOW MANY FELLOWS DO WE ACCEPT IN EACH COHORT?

The exact number depends on the strength of applications in the candidate pool. Historically, less than 10% of candidates have been accepted into our program.
